SDR of PE pipe
You can calculate the wall thickness of a HDPE pipe by dividing the outside diameter by the SDR number, e.g. 180 / 17.6 = 10.22mm. To calculate the internal diameter, multiply the wall thickness by 2 and subtract it from the outside diameter. Easy!
PN Rating
PN Rating of pipe is the pressure rating, sometimes expressed as Bar. PN10 will take 10 bar. A PN6 pipe will also take 10 bar but its safe working life will be reduced. This is due to the safety factors built in at design stage.
Profiled Pipe
Profiled pipe is HDPE pipe that is manufactured by winding a hollow profile of HDPE around a steel mandrel. This method will massively increase structural strength without a corresponding effect on cost.......even Derren Brown cant work out how its done!
Atex Rating
ATEX gets its name from the French title of the 94/9/EC directive: Appareils destinés à être utilisés en ATmosphères EXplosibles. It is EU law that equipment in explosive atmospheres is Atex rated so that the right equipment can be used in the right atmosphere.
